Medicine in Israel – Many people in the world know very little about Israel. Some of these people have their ideas about the country from what they have learned in the Bible and see Israel as an ancient and primitive country with a population living without modern amenities and still using camels as the primary form of transport.  Others have learned about Israel through the media and imagine that it is in a state of continuous conflict.

Despite being in a troubled region, in only 62 years, Israel has forged ahead of its neighbors, developing into an advanced and democratic nation. All this, notwithstanding the threat of enemies at its borders who seek its destruction and critics around the globe, constantly smearing  Israel with unmerited groundless criticism.

Since the establishment of the modern State of Israel, notable and exceptional goals have been reached here that can easily compare with much older and more established countries worldwide. Today, the populations of countries worldwide are enjoying the results of Israeli developments in all research fields.

In the Medical field, Israel’s health care system is equivalent to the world’s best.  Research by the World Health Organization has ranked Israel above most OECD countries for accomplishment and competence.

Israel, over 61 years, has reached the situation of becoming one of the World’s leaders in medicine, is regarded as a medical superpower, and world data shows that cancer survival rates in Israel are amongst the world’s highest.

In accordance with Israeli law, every resident in Israel is entitled to equal treatment in all medical institutes by any doctor free of charge. This has resulted in improved health in the entire population.

People with Parkinson’s disease have benefited from an Israeli-developed drug that also helps delay Alzheimer’s.  Also developed in Israel is the PillCam, a pill with a camera that can be swallowed and video records the esophagus and digestive tract internally.  This invention received the European Union Grand Prix award in 2003.  This award is given for an invention that impacts most highly on the life of humans.

The first biological computer, the bodily fluid Pen, and a revolutionary device that detects breathing disorders during sleep were all developed in Israel. Israel is also highly accomplished in infertility treatment, plastic surgery, and biotechnology development.
There are many other notable achievements in Israeli medical research that are used to help with medical treatment worldwide.

The country has also made considerable contributions in technology, agriculture, physics. Israelis have also been awarded several Nobel prizes.

One of the first countries in the world to begin vaccinating citizens against the Covid-19 virus, Israel has, throughout the pandemic, been one of the first countries to give boosters and vaccinate children and teenagers.
